Career of Nikos Dyzma

Nikodem Dyzma works in a small funeral home. He is a great eulogy orator but otherwise really does not have any great expectations of his life. He just wants to earn a little extra money to buy, for example, a refrigerator. One day Nikos goes to pick up a corpse, and an unexpected opportunity presents itself when he is invited to a diplomat’s banquet, which is attended by prominent politicians. And at the banquet he gains respect from them for some rude comments he made about the Deputy Prime Minister’s behavior. This seemingly small incident is a significant turning point for the master of funeral ceremony’s career. As Nikos gains respect, he transforms from a simple gravedigger into an important politician, saving the Polish sugar market from collapse, and in the end, becoming Prime Minister. The film – great comedy - speaks how significantly a random twist of fate can change someone’s life.
