Love

Love

(Miłość)

This film presents the history of Miłość (Love), one of the most important Polish jazz groups of 1990s. The free jazz sound that they developed in the cities of Gdansk, Gdynia, and Sopot was a reaction to the stale jazz scene of the late 80s and led to a whole new style of jazz—yass, which incorporated elements of improvised, punk, and folk music. Success in Poland led to recordings with famed trumpeter Lester Bowie of the Art Ensemble of Chicago. The film tells the story of the group reuniting ten years after breaking up in 2002. The musicians of Miłość recall the group’s early dramatic story and try to create some new music. Is a comeback possible after all those years?
