Animated History of Poland
(Animowana historia Polski)
This gripping animation depicts the complicated history of Poland. Various dramatic scenes from Poland's tumultuous past are vividly portrayed. Commissioned by the Polish Information and Foreign Investment Agency for display at Poland's pavilion at Expo 2010 in Shanghai, this short was directed by Polish Oscar-nominated animator Tomasz Bagiński in consultation with historian Henryk Samsonowicz. It shows Poland emerging as a state through warfare while under the unifying force of Christianity. Poland's numerous triumphs and disasters throughout the ages are highlighted. Very little of Poland's often tragic past is omitted, with the Partitions of the 18th century, the horrors of the Nazi occupation, and the iron rule of the Soviet Union all skillfully brought to life.
